Why should poorly positioned teeth and jaws -- malocclusions -- be treated?
Many teeth and jaw malocclusions interfere with the function of your mouth and detract from your appearance. As a result of malocclusion, too much strain is imposed on specific teeth. Difficulties with the jaw joint may also occur.
Narrowly placed or nested teeth cannot be properly brushed or cared for. Gapped teeth or teeth that flare forward prevent the lips and mouth from closing properly, which is dangerous should you fall or be injured.
